Usually not first..but this week I wanted to keep it to a simple sketch...This is a Kantus from Gears of War.  The Kantus are Locust priests/monks who are the ruling caste just beneath the Queen herself.

I agree, that is amazing. Looks primitive but intellectual at the same time, which is the way I always saw the Locusts. Nice work.


I don't think I'll be able to get in a sketch this week, as I'm on my way down to Sydney today and I'm staying there for the next two weeks. Sucks because I also made progress on my major contest piece which I don't think I'll be able to finish either now. Oh well, I'll still be checking here to see all the other entries though.

Good job on the Kantus, it has a kind of Hayao Miyazaki feel to it (some of his grittier stuff, not Totoro)

Picking a topic to do a year of drawing  was quite a daunting task. Picking a theme while hard at first makes for a more cohesive series. And who knows, maybe after 30 days you'll have hit a groove and keep going. I know it took awhile to get into it for me, started off with plenty of vigor but hit a wall after a couple months but kept on trucking. Now seeing some of the progress I've gained on the drawings (there are still plenty of stinkers) though makes me eager to see where I'm at by the end of this thing.
