One great thing about doing these interviews is the amazing talent that we get to showcase from all over the world. Even though these artists are separated geographically, they all have the same passion running in their veins: a passion for art and games. Here's an artist from Central America that oozes talent and doesn't hesitate to pick up the controller from time to time. A true pro in every sense of the word, here is DeffectX:

A quick intro please:
Well first thank you for the interview! My name is Teodoro Gonzalez, I'm 25 yrs old. I live in Venezuela and have been coloring digitally for 6 years.
Could you walk us through your coloring process?
The first thing I do when I recieve the pencils is picture it in my head, "how do I want this to look when finished?" Thats very important. I can't color without the picture of the final product in my head. Then I start looking for some references. Usually other artist's artworks and photos, then I start flatting the whole pic. Once faltting is done, I decide a point of light, and start adding shadows and volume. Then the final touches. The final step will be to go do something else for about an hour or two then come back to see the picture and start looking for mistakes!

How long does it take you to color a piece from start to finish?
A pinup usually takes 2-3 hours, pages and cover a little more! When I'm coloring a book i do 1-2 pages a day max to make sure everything comes out the way i want it! Quality over quantity is the key!
Which artist inspire your work?
My fave artists are danimation, Simon Bork, Alvin Lee, Arnold Tsang, Eduardo Francisco, and many others! Too much good stuff out there!
What is your favorite comic book characters?
That would be the Joker!

How long did it take for you to break into the comics industry?
Actually it didnt take that much time to find someone who was willing to pay me to color. But the problem was they usually want to pay you a ridiculous page rate. Accepting that was a mistake. People need to start working their skills before working on getting jobs. These $10 page rates are killing this industry by making good artists emigrate to other type of jobs. You know, this our way of living!
What would your dream project be like?
A Batman comic or Spiderman!

What games are you playing right now if any?
I'm playing Day of Defeat source, NFS Hot Pursuit and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
What are you plans for when a horde of the undead come knocking at your door?
I'm working on a new gun based of sprays and lighters.
